   Opportunities for service

There are many ways in which you can serve our churches and community.

This page gives details of some of the opportunities currently available.

Brain Tumour Research and Support across Yorkshire are looking for volunteers for their Big Bike Ride in Wetherby on May 21.

Possible duties include:

Full support will be provided on the day and you can reclaim your food and travel expenses.

Wetherby Racecourse Chaplaincy

Did you know that there is a chaplaincy team working at Wetherby Racecourse?

Probably not, but they are seeking to expand their activities and are looking for local volunteers to join them.

Chaplaincy is about making sure that people have access to pastoral and spiritual support if they need it. It’s about making sure the church connects with people where they are at and not just within a church building.

Full training will be given and volunteers would work alongside the existing chaplains. The aim is to have at least two people available at all Wetherby race meetings. Having a presence from Wetherby churches would be invaluable, as it affirms the importance of racing to the local community's economy in which some 30 different companies are involved in any one day of racing.

If you are interested in finding out more (and an interest in horse racing isn't essential), please contact your minister or priest in the first instance, or read this document.
